What does the
Database contain?
Over
24,000 buyers,
sellers and
producers of
entertainment and
educational media at
over 8,100
companies--all of
which have attended
at least one market
event since 1
January 2007
What distinguishes
the Database from
other available
databases?
Unlike most
databases, the MTG
Media Database
identifies every
market attended by
almost every
individual buyer,
seller and producer
registered at any of
30 annual market
events.
Why is market
tracking important?
Most users of the
Database are sellers
of entertainment
media who attend
market events.
When compiling a
list of whom to
contact before a
market event, the
first question would
be “Who is most
likely to attend?”.
The answer is: those
who attended the
same market the
previous year. The
MTG Media Database
allows you to
isolate these
contacts quickly and
easily.
What markets are
tracked in the MTG
Media Database?
NATPE, American Film
Market, MIPDOC,
MIP-TV,
Sportel-Asia, Cannes
Film Market, Los
Angeles Screenings,
DISCOP, Hong Kong
Filmart,
Sportel-Monaco,
MIPCOM JR, MIPCOM,
and MIFED.
How often is the
Database updated?
Continuously. MTG
Media sends buyers
of entertainment
media over 168,000
pieces of
international mail
and over 58,000
international faxes
per year. When mail
is returned
undelivered, faxes
or emails are
unsuccessfully
transmitted, we
research the matter
thoroughly. If we
are unable to find
the whereabouts of
the addressee
(usually because the
addressee is no
longer in business)
we put the entry
into a “holding
file” if or until
the whereabouts are
found.
Also, after every
market event, the
address, phone, fax
and email address
for each company is
double-checked
against our existing
record. Therefore,
the entry for each
contact and company
has been updated at
least as recently as
the most recent
market attended by
each company
How often do
companies change
addresses or go out
of business?
We estimate that 30%
of foreign
theatrical and video
companies change
addresses or go out
of business every
year; and 20% of
broadcast
television, cable
and satellite
services do so
annually. Thus, the
need for continuous
updating is critical.
What are the special
features of the MTG
Media Database?
The MTG Media
Database identifies
the media (e.g.
video, broadcast
television, etc.),
genres (e.g.
features, childrens,
documentaries,
etc.), and region
(e.g. Benelux, Latin
America, etc.) in
addition to
addresses, phone,
fax, email and
markets attended.
Additionally, the
MTG Media Database
identifies the
principal buyer at
each company, so
that you are able to
select just one key
buyer per designated
company--or all
buyers at the
selected company.
Similarly, in our
Database for Sellers
and our Database for
Producers, we
identify the
principal sales and
production contacts.
The MTG Media
Database even
identifies those
buyers who “only
buy” a specific
genre (e.g. music,
sports, etc.).
Thus, if you want to
send cassettes to
those buyers that
only buy
documentaries, you
can isolate these
buyers quickly and
easily.

Database.
How does the MTG
Media Database
designate a
principal contact?
The MTG Media
Database designates
a principal buyer at
each company. The
principal contact is
designated as “1” in
the field named
“Main or Additional
Contact.”, and is
the person deemed
most likely to make
the decisions
related to the
purchasing the
rights to the
seller’s product
The principal buyer,
sales contact and/or
production contacts
at each company are
identified in the
Main Or Additional
Contact field.
Several factors
determine whom is
designated as the
principal buyer,
among them are the
person’s rank within
the company and the
frequency of market
attendance. In
small and companies,
the President or
Managing Director
usually makes the
decisions about what
to buy, sell or
produce. But, in
larger companies,
the head buyer,
head of sales or
head of production
is usually the key
contact. The rank
of the buyers is
regularly analyzed,
and changes are
common.
Can I purchase the
MTG Media Database?
No. The MTG Media
Database is not
available for for
purchase. |
